Whitehouse Loan gas main replacement works starting now (for 20 weeks)

Following discussions with City of Edinburgh Council, work to replace a gas main that runs beneath Whitehouse Road will start on Monday 12 September and take approximately 20 weeks. 

This project has been brought forward to take place in advance of road resurfacing work minimising long-term disruption for local residents and road users.

Edinburgh Playing Out - Public Meeting 7.30pm Tuesday 9 February at City Chambers, Royal Mile

A small group of enthusiastic people have organised this free public meeting to publicise Playing Out, and the Playing Out weekend they are organising on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 April.

Playing Out is a way of reclaiming our city streets for children to play safely and for all age groups to come out of their houses and speak to their neighbours. It involves closing streets on a regular basis (this is flexible, but could be one afternoon a month) and allowing children, under the supervision of their parents, to play outdoors. 

Unstructured outdoor play with all age groups is important for children's development. Streets which already organise playing out see an increased sense of community and responsibility  Residents' cars, delivery vehicles etc are still allowed access, it is just through traffic which is prevented from using the road.

Marchmont & Sciennes Community Council will hold its January meeting on We 28 Jan 2015, at 7:30pm.  

The meeting will take place in our usual venue of St Catherine's Argyle Church halls on Beaufort Road/ Grange Road. 

This will be our fourth meeting of 14/15.  We will continue our regular practice of meeting on the fourth Wednesday of the month until Jun 2015, and then take a break till Sep 2015.

Closure of Warrender Park Road/ Marchmont Street Junction (from 3 to 30 March)

A Temporary road restriction and traffic regulation has been circulated informing us that Warrender Park Road and Marchmont Street will be closed at their junction with one another (and diversions will be in place) from 3 to 30 March 2014. 

This is to allow a new sewer connection.

A Plan is available showing the affected area and the diversion routes.
