Heriot-Watt University, in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, has been shortlisted in the bidding to host the National Performance Centre for Sport (NPCS) against Dundee and Stirling. Their desire is to create a world class sporting facility that will prepare Scottish athletes for competition on the world stage. If the bid is successful, it will result in better sports facilities for Edinburgh and the local community - putting Edinburgh at the centre of sports development in Scotland.
The Scottish Government will be investing £25m in the facility and a decision on the winning bid is expected later in the summer. Recently, Scottish sporting figures, Sir Chris Hoy, Gavin Hastings and Michael Stewart, also came out in support of the city's bid and gave their backing on the Go Edinburgh 2016 pledge page.
If you haven’t done so already, you too can pledge your support – it only takes a few seconds and could potentially make all the difference to our bid.
