The City of Edinburgh Council's Development Plan Scheme for 2010 is now available. The Scheme sets out:
* the Council's programme for preparing the first local development plan for the area, which will in due course replace the Edinburgh City Local Plan and Rural West Edinburgh Local Plan
* an initial participation statement setting out initial thoughts on the approach to community engagement.
The Scheme has been prepared to meet the requirements of the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006 and is the Council's second such document. As the Council is still in the very early stages of the plan-making process for the local development plan the amount of detail in the Scheme is necessarily brief.
