Sainsbury's in Marchmont (both 102-104 and 108-110 Marchmont Road)

The plans submitted in connection with the planning applications (see previous post for links to each) show that the site intended to become Sainsbury's includes the unit currently occupied by Black Medicine Coffee Cafe (108-110 Marchmont Road) as well as the current Margiottas Unit at 102-104 Marchmont Road).

Objections to the planning applications need to be lodged by 6 Sep.

Sainsbury's to take over Margiotta's at 102-104 Marchmont Road? (Edit: and 108-110)

Sainsbury's plan to take over the current Margiotta's shop at the corner of Marchmont Road and Spottiswoode Road.

If you want to have a say on local issues why not join Marchmont & Sciennes Community Council?

Community Councils across Edinburgh are looking for new members so if you want to have a say on local issues, now is the time to get involved. Nominations start on 2 September and close on 23 September. Elections, if required, take place on 24 October 2013.

Funding opportunity for projects in and around Edinburgh

The Russell Investments Fund is keen to support charities and community groups based and operating in Edinburgh and within 30 miles of the city

The aim of the fund is to support registered charities and constituted community projects (that are responsive to local issues) with a focus on:

      · Financial literacy - for adults as well as children and young people;
      · Children & Young People;
      · Further Education – working with people (all age groups) on ‘soft skills’ / confidence building to help individuals move on into further education.
The Fund is part of Foundation Scotland’s Express Grants programme: applicants can apply for up to £2,000 and will know within 8 weeks if they are successful or unsuccessful.  Full information on eligibility and how to make an application is available at their website.
